Halcyon Days

I remember those halcyon days,

When I found in fine dreams time to play.

That last day I dreamed of a struggle titanic,

To and fro did my efforts wax and wane.

Dueled with dragons I did,

Even as I snored away.

But one eye open I had,

Snoring while on my feet I stood attention.

Every waking dream needs a marker,

A sign, a symbol of its grandeur.

This dream sign is the dewy drops of morning,

Lit by the sun and glittering with every hue.

Dragons and rainbows swirled as one,

And then the dragons began to fade.

Yet the end of one dream heralds the dawn of another.
